Friday September 5, 2014 - Stevension

2014-09-05

The world is as it should be.  The gang met in the Dog River Coffee shop for their morning dose of caffeine, and then headed across the street to Bett's for breakfast.  Temira's call was for light East winds at Stevenson, so we all headed to Bob's Beach around 10am.
The gang at breakfast!
The Paddle Wheeler was gone so the launch was OK.  Mike was their first and out sailing when we arrived.  Of course it had been epic, but had backed off.
Kent rigging his 6.6 Hucker!
We all rigged, but few went out as it really didn't look very windy.  The wind gradually picked up and most of us headed out around 11:30.

Big Air Jim had a good first day!
It was a light wind day, so most of us were on our biggest gear.  Kent, Blaine, Rene and I were on our 6.6m Huckers.  There were a few on 5.6.   Rene, Kent, Brad and I had a great time chasing each other around up wind of the beach launch.

All in all, it was a great day - and much better than what we expected considering the forecast and the look of the water when we arrived at the beach!
Blaine - Great first day!
Al sailed until he ran out of wind...
Rene had a lot of fun!
The Big Van Gang - with a record 9 boards and all the rigs....
After sailing Rene, Blaine, Kent and I headed to "The Crossing" for lunch.  We all sat around after lunch and watched the water waiting for the wind to increase.  Sometime around 3:00ish we gave up and de-rigged.
Kent in his bike gear!
Blaine and Kent went biking, Ross did a repair on his Kite Board, while most of others decided on Golf.  I went to the Solstice pub and sat on the patio next to the new community park, and worked on my blog.  The Temperature was 31c so there was no way I was going for a bike ride - especially after sailing for two hours!

Blaine - had a good ride!
Ross and I were playing a game of darts in his new "Man Cave" at his condo, when Kent and Blaine arrived looking for a cold beer.

We headed for a late supper at 6th Street.

Ted and Kent - relaxing in the "Man Cave"

  1. Well as I read the blog I thought I better do a bit of research for you guys. I think the site below could provide some helpful tips so that over the next few years we don’t spend more time trying to get back into our vehicles, needless trips back to town to grab your towel, wetsuit, board, keys etc. than actual time on the water.

As usual looks like everyone is having a fantastic trip….wish I was there. Can’t wait for next year.
